A day visit to Seville is only 2 hours away. Monte Gordo to the east and Altura to the west of Praia Verde are small but lively, family orientated beach resorts, only 5 minutes away by car ( or try walking there along the beach!) where you will find a wide variety of bars, cafes, shops, banks and restaurants. With reasonably priced flights from most UK airports (see our UK flights page), the Algarve is only 2 hours 45 minutes away from most UK airports. Car HireCar hire is excellent value and easy to arrange and is highly recommended to enjoy everything this beautiful part of Portugal has to offer. Local Portuguese car hire firms are mostly reliable, with one or two exceptions. Based on our experience we do not recommend 'Thrifty' car hire as they have very high charges for minor defects, that all other car hire firms we have dealt with count as wear and tear. North from Faro airport to Junction 14 of the IP1 motorway, go east - signposted Espanha - for about 45Km then exit Junction 17 for Monte Gordo, continue to the N125 main road then turn left - Praia Verde is signposted ("P. Verde") on the right just a few hundred metres away - it's easy!
